The Eastern Columbia for Lease in The Historic Core
Designed by Claud Beelman and built for just $1.25m back in 1930, The Eastern Columbia showcases some of the most impressive Beaux Arts architecture that Downtown LA has to offer! The bright "melting turquoise" terra cotta tiles can be seen for miles. Originally the Eastern and Columbia outfitting company of furniture and clothing, founded by Adolph Sieroty. At the time of construction the City of LA had enforced a height limit of 154 feet, but the now famous decorative "Clock Tower" was granted an exemption allowing the clock to soar up to 254 feet and shines brightly to this date along with the booming word "Eastern" atop the structure. In 2006 Developer Kor along with architechs Killefer-Flammang, on an $80m budget, repurposed the building with 147 hi end lofts. The project took over 2 years. Eastern Columbia is a Mills Act building!
