Market Lofts (Background/History)
It was 2005 when the area of South Flower & Hope streets were beginning to grow. Empty parking lots were breaking ground on new buildings, stores and housing complexes. Staples Center was booming, the new metro public transportation "red line" was becoming popular and the burgeoning $2.5b, 5 million square foot "L.A.Live" was under construction.
It was that time when powerhouse developer Lee Homes, who had already made a residential foot print downtown with "Sky" and "Grand Lofts" teamed up with CIM, credited with Santa Monica's "3rd Street Promenade" and "Old Town Pasadena" to create "Market Lofts". The 6 story, 267 soft loft building would proudly sit on the NW corner of 9th & Hope Streets. It would locate intself above the brand new and highly anticipated "Ralphs" grocery store. This area would become the walking hub of the booming district today known as "South Park".
