Pan American Lofts (Background/History)
It was 1895 when Sumner Hunt designed The Irvine Byrne Block Building on the NW corner of Broadway and 3rd in downtown L.A. After WW II the building was used as the Mexican Consulate. If being completely honest there is some controvery on just when and why the building was labeled the Pan-American. What we do know is that "Irvine Byrne Building" who by the way would go on and have the current Orange County community of Irvine named after him, is the second oldest building downtown. The oldest being it's neighbor on the SE corner, The Bradbury.
In 2004 Long Beach builder Urban Pacific Builders (UPB) took advantage of the new Adaptive Reuse plan in DTLA and began transforming the historic concrete structure by pouring in over $20m into it's renovation. They brought in downtown architect Donald Barany, Sales & Marketing team Doma Properties and a young exubrant Sales Manager, new to downtown, named Randelle Green. Randelle would later go on to become a fixture of DTLA residential real estate and open The RandelleGreen Group (Downtown Lofts & Condos). The end result were 40 highly desirable urban lofts that would lead the charge in the re-imagination of downtown Los Angeles.
Pan American Lofts (Loft Features)

Bathroom's come with Porcher fixtures & vanities, Hansgrohe faucets and stainless steel applicances. Some lofts boast juliet balcony's and historic fire escapes. Pan American is proud to offer 10 multiple level Penhouse's sporting spiral staircases leading owners up to their own private roof-top patio! Natural light abounds into these lofts through large curved windows making for a wonderful experience.
Pan American Lofts (Building Features)
The building itself has been acknowledged by the Historical Facade Preservation via the Easement LA County Conservancy. The building is the proud holder of the Mills Act, which passes on great property tax savings for it's owners. The impressive concrete ediface is layered in intricate Terra Cotta tiles in a classic Colonial Beaux-Arts style. In 2004 UPB implemented a new roof and added a new ceiling to the garage level. Subterranean parking with controlled access for select owners. A no frills building, with no pool or gym, but reasonable HOA dues. Large powerful original arched windows dominate the east side of building (front). A large interior courtyard centers the building allowing in a tremendous amount of natural sunlight.
Perhaps one of the most eye catching features of the building is the grand straircase in it's lobby. This solid original wood staircase often referred to as "Halls of Hitchcock", due to it being imortalized in many Alfred Hitchcock films as well as movies like Brad Pitt's "Sev7en", Fight Club and Blade Runner.
