The Douglas Background/History
Designed by San Francisco building designers James & Merrit Reid back in 1898 making The Douglas one of DTLA's oldest residential buildings. The Historic stunner was actually developer by lumber baron Thomas Douglas Stimson (hense the namesake) and was used as the Southern Pacific Railroads ticket office. Stimson developed and operated a boarding house known as The Stimson House just across the street as well. The property like so many in The Hisororic Core was purchased, renovated and re-imagened in 2005 by Downtown Properties, who in turn did the same thing with The Rowan and Eldorado just a block south down Spring Street.

The lofts feature Poggen Pohl kitchens with Waterworks bathrooms, high ceilings and city views. Floors are hardwood with some offering historic tiles. Exposed brick throughout, however drywall and contempory seem to be a recurring theme as the property mixes the two beautifully. Sizes start at 735sf and bump up to 1225sf. The building boasts 7 two story incredible Penthouse's that gaze out onto the city's skyline and down Spring Street.
The Douglas Building Features

What strikes one first is the curved corner windows which are double hung. A 5 story brick enclave. Ground level retail offering a prize space directly looking down Spring Street. It was 2019 when 5 star restaurant "Sping" filled the space, however has since departed. A "no frills" building with no gym, pool, rooftop access or conceirge, but afordable HOA dues. Select lofts have parking in the subterranean garage with gated access.
